Chance the Rapper is making his film debut with a role in an indie film called Slice, which is about pizza delivery boys targeted in a killing spree. He announced the news yesterday in a tweet featuring a cryptic video.
The film was quietly shot over the summer in Chicago and was directed by Austin Vesely, a collaborator of Chance’s. A24 revealed yesterday that it produced the film and will release it sometime in the second half of 2017.
First teased in 2015, Vesely explained to the RedEyeChicago that it’s “really nothing going on at al”l and was inspired by George Saunders’ CivilWarLand In Bad Decline, and has shades of Paul Thomas Anderson.
The rapper plays Dax Lycander, “a werewolf who is a former Chinese food delivery driver,” in a unknown city where an enigmatic outlaw framed for a killing spree that targets unsuspecting pizza delivery boys.
