Actor convicted of second degree murder

Actor Michael Jace, 53, was convicted of killing his wife, April Jace, Tuesday. “The Shield” actor shot and killed his wife, at their Los Angeles home, in front of their two sons.

During the trials, Deputy District Attorney Tannaz Mokayef told the jurors that the actor was upset with his wife because she wanted a divorce. He then became even angrier, at the thought of her seeing someone else. On May 19, 2014, the night of the murder, April Jace arrived to their home and was met by the actor and a gun. He then shot her once in the back and twice, in the legs, as stated by CNN.

Around 8:30 p.m., the actor called 911 and admitted that he had shot his wife. Her body was found inside the home, along with their sons, who were both unharmed.

Jace’s role in “The Shield” was one of his biggest opportunities. He starred in 89 episodes as Julien Lowe, until the series ended in 2008. He had also earned roles in other television shows and movies.

Even with those multiple roles, Jace was met with the unfortunate stress of financial debt, in the years before his 2014 arrest. He had filed for Chapter 13 bankruptcy in March 2011, according to court documents attained by CNN.

Jace now faces up to 40 years to life in prison at his sentencing, scheduled for June 10.
