King L has been off the grid musically for a while, some believe it’s because of his legal battle with former record label Lawless Inc. THE WORD | Kim Kardashian West and Kanye West welcome fourth child

Congrats to Kanye and Kim Kardashian West on their 4th child, their second child via surrogate.  The baby boy joins his sisters North, 5, and Chicago 1, and brother Saint, 3. On "The Ellen Show" Thursday with her nieces and nephews, Kourtney Kardashian said her sister was supposed to join her but couldn't because the surrogate was in labor.

Their mother and family matriarch, Kris Jenner, appeared surprised and said she was not aware labor had started.

THE WORD | An arrest warrant has been issued for Offset of ‘The Migos’

Offset of the Migos has been issued an arrest warrant for “criminal damage to property”. The rapper is facing charges in connection to the April incident shown above where he knocks a cellphone from a fan’s hand after he was approached at a Target in Georgia. The fan, Junior Gibbons, is said to have filed a police report last week. The incident has been classified as a felony due to the cost of the IPhone. Gibbons, phone has been cracked, as shown below. Gibbons and his family state that they simply want the phone fixed. 

 

Although the case continues on, the rapper’s lawyer released a state today calling the charges brought upon his client are both “disgraceful” and the charges should be “dismissed immediately”.

THE WORD | Remy Ma Arrested, Charged With Misdemeanor Assault

 Remy Ma has turned herself in to authorities after being charged with misdemeanor assault, as TMZreports. The charge originates from an incident that took place last month. It was said that Remy Ma allegedly punched “Love & Hip Hop” actress Brittney Taylor in the face.

 Taylor originally accused Remy of assault during an interview with the New York Daily News on April 19. The incident allegedly took place three nights prior (April 16), during the Pretty Lou Birthday Charity Concert at Irving Plaza in New York City. It was reported that the women had an argument backstage before the alleged attack happened. According to Pitchfork a representative for the NYPD confirmed that Remy was arrested and charged earlier this afternoon.

THE WORD | B2K’s Millennium Tour Rakes In $5 Million

R&B boy group B2K embarked on a reunion tour in March and it was a hit!!! The Millennium Tour features Mario, Pretty Ricky, Lloyd, Bobby V, The Yin Yang Twins, and Chingy. After announcing the tour B2K fans went crazy on twitter, as a result the tour became trending.

According to Billboard , the Millennium Tour has generated more money for the group than any of their previous tours, raking in just over $5 million. Their performances at the Forum in Inglewood, CA, State Farm Arena in Atlanta, and the Oracle Arena in Oakland, CA have respectively raked in $2.2 million, $1.7 million, $1.2 million for a combined total of $5 million.

On their last tour as a group, the Scream Tour III, B2K brought in $4.2 million after performing 22 shows. In only three dates B2K was able to generate $5 million, with more shows to perform, they'll quick surpass that amount.

THE WORD | JAY Z BSides 2 FreeStyle Criticism, Gentrification In Black Neighborhoods

JAY Z headlined a concert a New York's famed Webster Hall this weekend to reopen the beloved venue in style. His BSides 2 concert was featured a full band, the 4:44 artist wore a tux as he serenaded the crowd with some of his deeper cuts from his albums. He shared the stage with artist such as NAS, Camron, JimJones .

"Gentrify your own hood before these people do it/ Claim eminent domain and have your people move in/ That’s a small glimpse into what Nipsey was doing/ For anybody still confused as to what he was doing.” Jay-Z

Paying homage to Nipsey Hussle who invested in the neighborhood he grew up in, JAY Z's use of the words "gentrify" seemed to rub a lot of people the wrong way. However, not everybody took issue with Mr. Carter's freestyle and blasted those who lacked the nuance and dexterity to grasp the meaning behind the message.


THE WORD | 50,000 PEOPLE ATTENDED KANYE'S SUNDAY SERVICE AT COACHELLA

The numbers for Kanye West's Sunday Service are officially in and an astounding 50,000 festival-goers woke up early to go and watch the ceremony. 

Coachella production sources tell TMZ organizers just tallied everyone who attended. According to TMZ over 50k were there, some key guests included the entire Kardashian family, Chance The RapperDonald GloverLizzoKid CudiDMX and more. Coachella averages about 100k total attendees every weekend, so for half to show up just for 'Ye is a really big deal.  Ye Also debuted a new song with Ty Dolla Sign titled “Water”. THE WORD | YNW Melly Facing Possibility of Death Penalty

YNW Melly has been charged with two counts of first-degree murder. Cops say the rapper shot two of his friends back in October, then staged the crime scene to look like a drive-by shooting. According to new legal docs, obtained by TMZ, the State intends to seek the death penalty against Melly.

Prosecutors have also characterized Melly as a "criminal gang member."

Publicly viewable court information shows that the state's notice of intent to seek death penalty was filed April 18.

THE WORD | G Herbo Arrested and Charged With Battery After Incident With Baby Mama

G Herbo was arrested yesterday (April 17) in Atlanta for simple battery with his child’s mother Ariana Fletcher. According to the Atlanta Police Department, officers responded to a dispute call and spoke with a woman who said “she was in a verbal altercation with the father of her child when at some point he assaulted her then left the location with their son.” The woman also “sustain[ed] minor scratches as a result of the incident,” according to APD.

Herbo was arrested and charged after he returned to the location. TMZ reports that Herbo is currently in jail and his bail is set at $2,000. An investigation is ongoing, the Atlanta Police Department says.

Kerry Lathan; the man who was shot with Nipsey Hussel, explain’s his current situation on Big U’s Instagram live. After Nipsey’s murder and Lathan being hospitalize he was arrested for violating his parole. The arrest was made for being around a known gang member, who they say is Nipsey Hussle. Nipsey Hussle and Lathan are allegedly members of the LA Crip gang.

Nipsey Hussle was meeting with Kerry Lathan to give him clothes and money as he just came home from doing 25 years in prison for murder. He is unfortunately in a wheelchair behind the shooting, and supposedly facing 10 years for being around Nipsey. Below is an interview he did with Vlad TV and Big U.

THE WORD | Jay-Z Announces "B-Sides 2" Will Be At Webster Hall

For the past two years, New York City's Webster Hall has been closed down due to a scheduled three-year hiatus for structural improvements. But the wait is quickly coming to an end. According to reports, the popular nightclub and concert venue will be reopening this month with a special performance from Jay-Z. The Announcement came via Webster Halls Instagram.

This isn't just any show, however. Hov is expected to perform his "B-Sides 2" set, which will spotlight particular tracks from his discography that he rarely performs live. Below is an iconic freestyle Hov spit during the first B-Sides concert.

THE WORD | NIPSEY HUSSLE TAKES HIS VICTORY LAP, MEMORIAL RECAP

Thousands flocked to remember the life of Nipsey Hussle at a packed memorial service Thursday (April 11) that provided mourners with a deeper appreciation of Ermias Asghedom, the man behind the up-and-coming hip-hop persona. 

Hussle’s brother, Samiel Asghedom, talked about how Hussle would assemble parts to build his first computer, but became emotional about his brother leaving his “heart and soul” on the popular intersection of Crenshaw and Slauson Avenue.

“Bro, you made the world proud,” he said.

Hussle recently purchased the strip mall where The Marathon is located and planned to redevelop it, part of Hussle’s broader ambitions to remake the neighborhood where he grew up and attempt to break the cycle of gang life that lured him in when he was younger. His family and friends vowed to continue his work, and London told the crowd: “The marathon continues!”

THE WORD | Nipsey Hussle murder suspect pleads not guilty, defended by former O.J. Simpson prosecutor

The suspect charged with the murder of Grammy-nominated rapper Nipsey Hussle has pleaded not guilty. Eric Holder, 29, was charged with one count of murder, two counts of attempted murder and one count of possession of a firearm by a felon in connection with the shooting. Holder's attorney, Christopher Darden, entered a not guilty plea on his behalf at his arraignment on Thursday. Holder is being held on $5 million bail. He faces up to life in prison, if convicted as charged.

THE WORD | Nipsey Hussle Fatally Shot in Los Angeles (Updated)

Updated 4/2/2019 There has been an update in the investigation of Nipsey Hussle ‘s murder. The police have identified the suspect Eric Holder and want the help of the community to get him into custody. It is being reported that the two got into an argument and the suspect came back and shot at Nipsey and two others.

There was also a candle light vigil held in his honor last night and a disturbance caused a panic and a stampede to occur. 19 people were injured and 1 person was critically wounded after being hit by a car.

Original Story 4/1/19 Nipsey Hussle was fatally shot today outside of his Marathon clothing store in the Hyde Park neighborhood of Los Angeles, NBC News reports. Hussle was standing outside of his store with a crowd of people when an unknown person opened fire, killing Hussle and wounding two others. Police say that they are looking for a black male in his 20s and that the shooting appears to be gang-related. The Victory Lap rapper was 33 years old.  He's survived by his two children and London, with whom he just had a child with in 2016.

Hussle's reach extended well beyond his own neighborhood. In the wake of Hussle's passing, it became clear how many corners of the rap community he had touched. Hiphop took social media to show him love.

THE WORD | DaBaby Cleared of Charges in Walmart Deadly Shooting

Charges against DaBaby for his connection to a deadly shooting in North Carolina have been dropped, WSOCTV reports. The incident took place at a Walmart in Huntersville, North Carolina on Nov. 5, 2018. He had been charged with carrying a concealed gun and was the only person arrested in the killing of 19-year-old Jalyn Craig.

The police came to the scene after shots went off in the store. Craig had been hit in the stomach and died at Walmart. Four people were subsequently taken into custody by the Huntersville Police Department to be questioned.

DaBaby verified that he was indeed involved in the shooting, explaining that it was a matter of self-defense and that the camera footage would support his story.

.“If them gunshots ain't go off, n***a, my fuckin' daughter could've got hit, son could've got hit, me,” he said. “Fuckin' lawyers telling me not to say something and shit, fuck all that. Two n***as walk down on you and your whole muthafuckin' family, threaten y'all, whip out on y'all, n***a, let me see what y'all gon' too. You feel me?”



THE WORD | Janet Jackson Enters The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame

Janet Jackson has built a career so groundbreaking that she’s immediately identifiable on a first-name basis. She explored social issues, themes of empowerment and self-confidence, and influenced generations with her stylized music videos with innovative choreography.

Jackson issued her challenge just before leaving the stage of Brooklyn's Barclays Center. "Rock and Roll Hall of Fame," she said, "in 2020, induct more women."

Jackson followed her brothers Michael and the Jackson 5 as inductees. She said she wanted to go to college and become a lawyer growing up, but her late father Joe had other ideas for her.

"As the youngest in my family, I was determined to make it on my own," she said. "I was determined to stand on my own two feet. But never in a million years did I expect to follow in their footsteps." (Fox News)

She credited Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis, producers of her breakthrough "Control" album and most of her vast catalog. She encouraged them to stand in Brooklyn's Barclays Center for recognition, as well as booster Questlove. She thanked Dick Clark of "American Bandstand" and Don Cornelius of "Soul Train," along with her choreographers including Paula Abdul.
