The Maven Method: Media Training for Artists & Talent’
The Maven Method is a media training session to prepare artists, rappers/singers, athletes, and performers for interview opportunities and media interactions. Created by Portia King, the session provides the fundamental skills and lessons on media etiquette, including interactive activities and guided discussion to help artists and talent capitalize on future publicity opportunities. The second installment of The Maven Method will take place, Sunday, October 5 at The Invisible Space, 8548 S. Cottage Grove, Chicago, IL, from 2 PM to 4 PM. “After years of interviewing artists and talent from various career levels I noticed a common trend that some artists are completely unprepared and end up bombing the opportunity,” said King. “My goal is to provide the knowledge and insight to better prepare talent with the necessary skills to conduct an engaging, memorable and impactful interview.”
As a former content producer and writer for REVOLT TV, public relations specialist, and improv performer, King will incorporate her diverse background into leading the training session with a versatile level of insight into navigating the world of media.
