The Rap Game's Nia Kay

Lifetime's new hit Show "The Rap Game" starring Jermaine Dupree, has an exciting addition for season 2, that addition is Chicago's own Nia Kay. She is a 14 year old hip hop lyricist who has a demeanor like no other her age. Many people recognize her as the young instagram mc who spits polished BARS and tops her amazing punch lines off with a woo!

Nia Kay first hit the scene as an 11 year old reciting polished hip hop rhymes on social media, her videos caught the eyes of many, and just like that the duchess of Chicago HipHop was born. What I found interesting about her, was her ability to spit such ill rhymes but not curse, which is un common amongst young MC's. In our interview she mentions that she gets her inspiration from England's rapper/singer Lady Leshurr. Lady Leshurr is best known for her Queen's Speech series of freestyles, the fourth of which went viral in 2016.

Throughout her journey she has received the stamp of approval from many artist, such as 2 Chainz and plenty of Chicago's Queens like Da Brat, Shawna, Chellah H, and Dreezy.

In the interview Nia Kay expressed the importance of being a role model for the youth, the fulfillment and joy one will have if you follow your dreams. On her request to follow her dreams Nia Kay had to make a few sacrifices, such as missing her middle school graduation because she was in Atlanta filming The Rap Game season 2.

Nia Kay will be attending high school in fall at Homewood Flossmoor, located in Chicago south suburbs. She has mentioned if her career expands and is offered a chance to tour, she is open to home schooling. Seeing that she graduated with straight A's from middle school, she is already mentally tough to juggle the task of music and being an academic achiever.

At the age of 14 her maturity outside of the booth is already inspiring. Conducting this interview I was amazed by her personality and how humble she was. One would think because of her rap demeanor she would be a cocky kid, but I beg to differ. Nia Kay is the real deal. I know the city of Chicago is loving seeing their duchess do her thing. As her career continues it will be exciting to see Nia Kay blossom into a elite musician. Until then make sure you catch her on The Rap Game Fridays at 10/9c only on LIFETIME.  We are here rooting #TeamNiaKay Woo!
